Dr. Ghassan Khalil is currently the UNICEF Representative in Greece. He has dedicated his efforts for more than 25 years to the promotion of children’s rights, women’s and human rights, legal reform, transformative social policy, cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue.
Prior to joining UNICEF’s Greece Country Office, he held many positions, such as the UNICEF Representative to Georgia, the Senior Advisor to UNICEF Regional Office for Middle East and North Africa, and the UNICEF Special Representative for Libya.
Professor Khalil holds a Maîtrise in Law from the Lebanese University, a Master degree in International Business Law and a Doctorate Degree in International Human Rights Law, both Summa Cum Laude from Paris Sorbonne (Paris-V) University.
He has received numerous awards from Governments, NGOs and academic institutions in recognition to his contributions to human rights and social development, and was awarded four Honorable Doctorate degrees from State Universities in Georgia.
