Gelastopoulou Maria

Maria Gelastopoulou is Counselor in Special and Inclusive Education at the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) and Coordinator of the Special and Inclusive Education Department of the same Institute (IEP). She has taught for many years in mainstream schools and in special education classes in primary education in Greece and from 2010 until today she is a member of the scientific staff of the Hellenic Institute of Educational Policy (IEP).  She teaches Special Education courses at Greek Universities.
She holds a PhD in Special and Inclusive Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Athens University. She has a Two-Year Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education from the Maraslio Kindergarten Teacher School of Athens. She holds a special title in Special Educational Needs and a Master’s Degree in Hyperpersonal Therapy and Counseling from the International Association of Coaches, Therapists & Mentors (IACTM).
As a consultant at the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), she is responsible for actions and projects that promote inclusive education and organizes training sessions and workshops.
She participates as a representative of the Institute (IEP) on special education issues as well as in committees and groups on special and inclusive education for the Greek Ministry of Education, other Ministries and the Council of Europe
