Irini Pathiaki is a graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology of the Athens School of Philosophy and holds two postgraduate degrees (Contemporary European History and Studies in Education).
Since 2001 she has been working with vulnerable social groups (adults and children of refugee, migrant and Roma background) in both formal (reception classes) and non-formal education. Besides being a teacher of Greek as a second/foreign language, she has worked as a teacher trainer, coordinator of educational programmes and author of educational materials.
