Pasic Maida

Maida is the Regional Education Adviser in UNICEF ECARO where she provides strategic technical advice to 26 country offices and Refugee Response Offices on education programming. 

Before joining the team in Geneva, she was an Education Specialist in UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office, responsible for providing technical guidance to country offices on adolescent and skills, gender, and education in emergencies.

Previously she was UNICEF’s Chief of Education in Palestine, where she lead and managed UNICEF education and adolescents programmes, and worked with the government in developing policy and institutional capacity in early childhood education; Lifeskills and Citizenship education; and Education in Emergencies (EIE). She also served as the Cluster Coordinator and later the Co-Chair of EIE Working Group.

Maida started her career as an Education Specialist in UNICEF New York, where she designed programs to address capacity development needs of national partners and UNICEF Education staff. In this role, she contributed to the development and formulation of UNICEF’s Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) approach to improving quality of education. 

 Maida holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Sussex, Ed.M in International Comparative Education from Columbia University/Teachers College and M. A. in International Relations from New York University.
