Douma Elpida

Elpida Douma was born in Athens and studied at the Department of Preschool Education, University of Athens from which she graduated in 1996. She continued her studies, and she was awarded her master’s degree (M.Ed.) from the University of Exeter, U.K. in Special Education. She completed her postgraduate thesis on “Social interactions and social integration of preschool children with special needs in inclusive education”.
Her research interests mainly focus on Inclusion, Early Childhood Education and Religious Diversity. She attends and participates in workshops on education and have published research papers and presented in several conferences. She speaks fluent English and good French. She has worked as a kindergarten teacher and special education teacher in Greece and U.K. From 2005 she worked in Primary Education as a Head Kindergarten Teacher. From 2022 she holds the position of Counsellor B for Preschool Education in the Primary and Special and Inclusive Education Unit of the Hellenic Institute of Educational Policy (IEP). She is a PhD Candidate at Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon, University of Athens (Department of Social Theology & the Study of Religion).
